Create history with arched doors
Britons who want to create a feeling of history, light and art in their own homes may wish to invest in arch windows and arched doors, following the
advice of one sector commentator.
Jonathan Jones, in his blog for the Guardian, explains that the Romans were the first to create arched
products, which were a "stroke of brilliant practical engineering" as they distribute weight equally downwards on to the two
ends.
"In early medieval architecture round arches create aesthetic pleasure in buildings like the Great Mosque in Cordoba," he
notes.
But Mr Jones states that it was Gothic architecture which took it further, by making arches pointed to create more height, which could
create an increased feeling of space and light within a home.
At Force 8 in Stockport, homeowners can choose from a selection of half arch
and arched doors, as well as windows.
As the doors are also glazed, Britons can enjoy the beauty of the arch in their property, without
letting any cold draughts in.
