Church seeks funding for new double glazing
One Medieval church and its church hall are hoping to raise £200,000 to carry out vital repairs in order to save it from crumbling, it has been
reported.
According to the Southern Daily Echo, St Mary's church in Swaythling needs to have its arch windows repaired and restored, while damp in the premises is also threatening
the future of the 900-year-old building.
Meanwhile, the church hall is in need of double glazing, with total costs for all of the work expected to amount to some £200,000.
Reverend Gary Philbrick
told the news resource that if the church is to stay standing for another 900 years, work needs to be carried out to ensure it is water
tight.
"We hope all the people who share memories of the church from each generation join the [fund-raising group] Friends and carry on
supporting the beautiful building for generations to come," he added.
Homeowners may also wish to invest in double glazing this winter in order to ensure that they keep heat loss from their property
