Double glazing 'can help weatherproof a home'

Now is the time to weatherproof a property, one writer has urged, as the current mild weather could give people time to carry out improvements, such as installing double glazing ( http://www.force8.co.uk/index.php ) before the cold temperatures set in.

Kate Watson-Smyth, in an article for the Independent, states that as temperatures plummet, people could find themselves with burst pipes or high fuel bills if they have not taken the time to make sure their home is protected against the elements.

John Keeble, of estate agent John D Wood, told the newspaper that as well as saving money on fuel bills, double glazing ( http://www.force8.co.uk/index.php ) could also add value to a property, making it a worthwhile investment.

"Double glazing ( http://www.force8.co.uk/index.php ) and insulation will both add value because we are now far more aware of how expensive energy supplies are," he explained.

And Britons looking to boost their insulation as part of weatherproofing their home may also wish to consider composite doors.

Such exterior doors ( http://www.force8.co.uk/ ) are better able to keep out cold draughts than timber doors as they do not crack or warp in wet, winter weather.
