Police 'spend thousands repairing front doors'

Fronts doors and windows ( http://www.force8.co.uk/index.php ) in properties which have been the wrong subject of a police raid have been repaired over the last year, with the bill setting back UK police forces hundreds of thousands of pounds, it is reported.

Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act have revealed that UK police departments paid out £500,000 in total to cover the repair bill when they raided properties based on the wrong information.

Police in Durham were forced to pay for the replacement of some 35 front doors ( http://www.force8.co.uk/ ) following such mistakes.

Meanwhile, Northamptonshire police replaced eight exterior doors ( http://www.force8.co.uk/ ).

Britons are advised to always ensure their front doors are secure and locked if they wish to keep out a more likely threat which could cause damage to their home - a burglar.

The Essex Echo recently reported that Rosemary Pannell is urging people to keep their exterior doors and windows ( http://www.force8.co.uk/index.php ) locked, even if they are at home, after she was burgled while she took a shower.
