Composite doors news - new green strategy unveiled
The government has announced this week plans to help homeowners go green, which could see more people considering insulating fixtures such as composite doors and double
glazing.
Yesterday (March 2nd), the Department of Energy and Climate Change stated that over the next decade, up to seven million UK
properties are to benefit from an environmental upgrade.
This will see households receiving funding to put towards improvements such as
cavity or solid wall insulation or other forms of eco-upgrade in order to make the property more energy efficient and reduce the utility bills
attached to it.
The green loan would then be paid back through the money people save on their energy bills as a result of the changes and the
debt itself will be attached to the home, rather than its owner.
Under the plans, the government has pledged to insulate six million
properties by 2011 and all practical lofts and cavity walls by 2015.
Commenting on the strategy, Ed Miliband, energy and climate secretary,
said: "This shows we can meet the national interest of tackling climate change and reducing our dependence on foreign energy at the same time as
we help people save money."
In light of the proposals, consumers may wish to consider investing in double glazing and composite doors - both of which are proven to boost insulation and
reduce draughts.
