Double glazing 'helps village achieve energy savings'
Villagers who invested in fixtures such as double glazing ( http://www.force8.co.uk/index.php ) have successfully reduced
their carbon footprints by ten per cent, it has been revealed.
According to the Oxford Mail, families and businesses in Leigh, near Witney,
started making moves to improve energy efficiency two years ago and now the 2,000-strong village has achieved savings of £13,000.
Geoff
Feasey, 79, was one resident who took action to improve the efficiency of his home, which included installing new double glazing.
He said: "The message we would like to leave is for everyone
to think for themselves how much they could do by adapting the way they live and trying little experiments, because it brings gas and electricity
bills down."
Mr Feasey added that despite only making small changes, he has reduced his electricity consumption by 20 per
cent.
In addition to double glazing ( http://www.force8.co.uk/index.php ), composite doors can also improve the efficiency of a property.
The material of the exterior doors is designed not to crack or warp, which can result in cold draughts getting in.
