Composite doors for prime minister
With election day looming, composite doors ( http://www.force8.co.uk/ ) have won unlikely support from Lord Peter Mandelson
for the suggestion that they would make a good prime minister.
He wrote to the British Plastics Federation (BPF) to explain why he recently
criticised Conservative leader David Cameron as being "plastic" - and to state his support for the use of innovative plastics in
building.
Lord Mandelson clarified his position, saying it is the malleable and lightweight plastics that he does not believe would make an
effective leader for the country.
But he added that compound plastics that are "durable, tough and indestructible" offer a suitable
description for the qualities of a prime minister.
Director general of the BPF Peter Davis welcomed the letter from Lord Mandelson, saying:
"It would be wrong of me to comment on which of our leaders is represented by what material.
"Polling day will reveal who is
durable and who goes to recycling."
