Britons looking to create a sense of overseas culture in their own homes may feel inspired by one property in the Highlands, which has used arch windows and doors to invoke the feeling of the Alps.
The Press and
Journal reports that Willowvale, owned by Dick and Robyn Ruane, is the only property designed to look like an Alpine house in the seaside town of
Nairn.
Designed by WR Davidson, one-time assistant to famous Victorian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, the house was built in 1922 for the
Wallace family, with Mrs Wallace being Swiss.
Each room in the property has two doors allowing the separate spaces to comfortably link in
with each other and the ground floor boast a vestibule with a feature arched window and
doorway.
Homeowners who are inspired to create their own Alpine feel may wish to pay a visit to Stockportdouble glazing supplier Force 8.
Here they can
design their own arched door and pick out new arch windows to give their own home a Swiss makeover.
Force 8 the North West's leading arched frame
specialist.
