Arched windows have been a feature of a historic terrace in Grimsby for 60 years,
reports the Grimsby Telegraph.
The line of properties, Spectacle Row on Abbey Road, is in a conservation area, meaning features of the homes
are protected.
While most of the houses in the row feature circular roof windows, one was altered in the mid-20th century to feature arched windows instead.
Its owners are now fighting to retain the arched windows in response to council calls for them to be altered to match their circular counterparts.
The row has erupted as
the owners, Mr and Mrs Ashton, were recently forced to fit new arched windows when the
old frames became rotten.
But they stress that doing so was not changing the property, as arched windows had been present for the previous six decades.
Arched windows from Stockportdouble glazing supplier Force 8 could add a similarly classic touch to a property, with frames able to be made to scale from
customers' own drawings.
