Britons who are feeling fed up with their homes and are looking to make changes to their living environment have been advised by one sector
commentator that a renovation project is "much more convenient" than attempting to find a new property.
Andrew Leech, director at
the National Home Improvement Council, said that the cost of moving could currently be as much as adding a small extension.
Homeowners may
also wish to keep in mind that new double glazing and composite doors could not only
give a home a new lease-of-life by improving its appearance, but it may even boost its value due to the increased insulation.
"You are
getting the best of both worlds - you are getting more room and you are not having to lay out so much money either," Mr Leech commented on the
benefits of an extension - which may include a conservatory.
AA Personal Loans reported in April that 24 per cent of all properties were
expected to add an extra room before the end of the recession.

For Britons with growing families who are unable to move house due to the current problems in the property market, increasing the size of an existing
home by adding a conservatory may be the answer.
Research by AA Personal Loans has revealed that nearly a quarter of UK properties are set to
increase in size before the recession is over, whether it be through an extension or conservatories.
With one in four renovated homes set to gain a new room, almost a quarter (23 per cent) of property owners
claimed this was because they wanted more space to entertain, while 15 per cent hoped to use the additional space as an office.
Mark Burgess,
editor of Estate Agency Times, said: "Even though the nation is collectively tightening its belt as the recession rolls on, it's not that
surprising that many homeowners are bucking the trend by taking out home improvement loans to renovate their properties."
Ellen Arnison,
writing for the Daily Record, recently stated that conservatories can solve
space problems with style.
