Composite doors news - New insulation scheme launched

A new insulation scheme has been launched this week and homeowners who wish to reduce the draughts in their own homes could find that double glazing and composite doors could help to add to the benefits of loft and wall insulation.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has announced that Insulate Today has been launched after bringing together a group of leading businesses, alongside Sainsbury's Energy and ACT ON CO2.

It is hoped the group, taking part in the new pilot scheme, will help to make it easier and cheaper for a quarter of a million employees to save hundreds of pounds on their utility bills.

The group will provide insulation offers to its workers, invest in additional incentives and use internal communication methods to raise awareness among workers.

Last year, households in the UK wasted over £500 million on energy bills due to poor insulation, with less than one in ten having the recommended amount in place.

In addition to loft and cavity wall insulation, composite doors and double glazing can also help to insulate a home.

Composite doors are less likely to crack or twist than timber external doors to let in draughts, while double glazing, according to the Energy Saving Trust, can reduce heat lost through windows by half.
