Could composite doors and double glazing help businesses go green?

UK businesses need incentives to go green, one sector commentator has claimed - and fitting composite doors and double glazing could see them cutting their bills, which may act as such an enticement.

James Murray, editor of BusinessGreen.com, said there is a significant amount which could be done to encourage companies to move into more sustainable areas.

"More incentives is a big one, rolling out wider carbon pricing to boost energy bills and encourage people to be more efficient with their energy is another big one," he explained.

His comments come after the government announced that the UK Innovation Investment Fund is launching the £125 million Environmental Innovation Fund.

The resource is managed by Hermes Private Equity, which is investing in low carbon and clean technology funds.

Businesses looking to become more energy efficient may wish to invest in double glazing and composite doors.

Both fixtures can cut down heat loss - with double glazing reducing it by 50 per cent - which may be useful after Faithful+Gould, part of the Atkins engineering design group, revealed many of the country's two million offices were leaking heat.
