DIY mishaps cost homeowners hundreds of pounds a year, it has been revealed - although composite
doors from Cheshiredouble
glazing supplier Force 8 may be a safe property improvement to invest in.
According to research by Santander, the cost of DIY disasters
stands at an average of £344 per incident, as 72 per cent of Britons attempt to carry out home improvements themselves - an increase of 20 per
cent on last year's figures.
Over the next 12 months, 38 per cent of people are hoping to improve their property in some way, as the credit
crunch forces many to tackle such jobs themselves, rather than calling in the professionals.
Miguel Sard, chief executive of Santander
Insurance UK, said: "In the past it may have been more efficient and easier to hire help to get these jobs done, but with budgets across the
country being squeezed, homeowners are instead attempting to do the work themselves."
However, Britons hoping to improve the facade of
their property by purchasing new composite doors may find they get a helping hand if they choose
their new fixtures from Force 8.
Every order from the Stockport store comes with a free
instructional DVD, designed to help people hang the external doors in two
hours.
But people who are still wary their skills may not be up to the job can choose instead to take advantage of the firm's installation
service if they live in the North West region.
Force 8 the North West's leading window and door manufacturer.
