UK men are tending to develop their DIY skills later in life due to their changing domestic circumstances, it has been claimed, but fitting new front doors - such as composite doors - could
be a simple first home improvement to attempt.
Recent research by Screwfix has found that younger UK men are at a loss when it comes to
carrying out many basic household jobs, such as bleeding radiators and re-wiring plugs, when compared to their father's
generation.
Furthermore, six out of ten males admit they hate DIY, due to a combination of a lack of motivation, knowledge and
time.
Commenting on the news, Duncan Hayes, editor at Build It magazine, said it takes a certain type of person to want to attempt home
improvements for themselves.
"When [DIY] starts coming to a little bit more [complicated], like replacing windowpanes, you have to be
able to do the legwork of going to get a pane cut to size and we just aren't that interested," he added.
However, by visiting Force 8,
Britons could design their own composite doors and receive advice on how to fit them, which may
see them speedily admiring their own DIY handiwork.
Force 8 supply a full range of arched
and composite doors.
