With the spring now here, many households may be keen to spend their weekends enjoying the sunshine in the garden, but they should be sure to lock
their front doors before they head outside.
Officers from South Norfolk have made the
request in an attempt to reduce the risk of burglaries occurring when thieves gain access by external doors while the homeowner is outside.
According to the Beccles and Bungay 24 Journal, households have been warned
they should be extra vigilant during the warmer weather as the days grow longer.
Wymondham, Hethersett and Mulbarton, Loddon and Poringland
inspector James Brown said: "I would like to remind people to remember to close windows and doors if going out and to lock front doors if they are outside in
their back garden."
Meanwhile, the Norwich Evening News spoke to detective sergeant Robin Windsor-Waite, who said in the summer there is
a trend for burglars taking advantage of exterior doors that have been left
unlocked.
Homeowners keen to improve the security of their property may wish to consider composite doors from Cheshiredouble glazing supplier Force 8, with its range of GRP front doors including
a secure five-point locking system.
