Conservatories 'boost living space'

As people continue to put any plans they had to move up the property ladder in favour of improving their existing home they may wish to consider conservatories, which are a good way of increasing usable living space.

Such is the opinion of Andrew Greenway, who, in an article for Guide2Bristol, states the addition of a conservatory is one of the most significant home improvements consumers can make.

He adds there are a number of considerations to take into account when choosing conservatories, including the shape and size of the plot, where it will sit and the styles that will fit in with the planning permission of a particular property.

Mr Greenway notes Edwardian-style conservatories typically have a square or rectangular footprint and make good use of available space, while Victorian conservatories are popular as they are so versatile.

Meanwhile, a Gable extension can create an enhanced feeling of height and space, while a lean-to - also known as sun rooms or Mediterranean conservatories - can be a good solution if there is a height restriction in place.

The writer concludes that whatever conservatories they end up choosing, homeowners can be sure it will add a "new dimension" to their property and be a "source of pleasure" for years to come.
