Conservatories 'may attract buyers'

Conservatories have been noted as one property feature which could help attract would-be buyers by making the most of outdoor space.

Edinburgh property solicitors ELPG Group stated that during this time of year, Britons are attracted to houses with conservatories as they allow people to enjoy the outdoors.

The group noted that homeowners who have a conservatory should look to make the most of this feature if they wish to sell their house in order to meet their optimum asking price.

John Lints, senior partner with ELPG member firm the Lints Partnership, said: "If your home has a garden, conservatory or balcony, it may help to attract extra interest from buyers looking for a property where they can enjoy the sunshine."

He advised that homeowners treat their conservatories with the same care and attention as the kitchen or dining room prior to a viewing, noting that summer was a good time to sell as houses look brighter.

Mike Bickerton, director at DTZ Residential, recently stated that sellers need to be realistic with their asking price in the current housing market decline.
