Despite living in a house which dates back to the early 1900s, Sally and Peter Copp were not willing to sacrifice their chance for increasing their
home's living space by adding a conservatory and so chose one which was complimentary to the building's age.
Ms Copp told the Press and
Journal that she fell in love with the Torphins property as soon as she saw it and the couple are still living there more than 20 years
later.
She added that they were "bowled over" by the number of original features the house boasted and that when it came to
browsing conservatories, they were keen the extension should complement the
building.
"We wanted to ensure that we kept all the traditional features and when we built our conservatory we had a local architect
design it in keeping with the theme of the house." Ms Copp explained.
She noted that the couple love their conservatory and frequently
eat their meals there while looking out at the garden.
This may inspire homeowners to take similar action, as having a conservatory fitted
could allow families to enjoy looking at their garden in the warmth, even during the winter months.
