Could conservatories be a haven for winter gardens?

While the leaves are falling from the trees and gardens may look like they have entered a period of hibernation, one newspaper has pointed out there are a number of jobs gardening enthusiasts can carry out in their green spaces.

According to the Guardian, once all of the summer produce from a vegetable patch has been harvested, Britons may wish to take action to ensure the rest of their plants will be protected over the winter.

It recommended erecting a number of low arches covered in horticultural mesh to prevent frost from killing vegetables.

And for less winter-resistant plants, Britons may wish to re-pot them and bring them into their conservatories over the cold months.

This could ensure that the plants get plenty of sunshine, while also staying warm and not succumbing to a night frost.

And conservatories may also be a suitable place to set about growing plants which need plenty of warmth all year round, such as citrus trees.
