This weekend much of the UK was battered by high winds and heavy rain, which may suggest that harsh winter weather is now well on the way.
In
light of this, Britons have been advised to take steps to ensure that their homes are not significantly damaged should they be hit by flood
waters.
According to Confused.com, should a property be the victim of a flood, windows and front doors should immediately be opened if this is appropriate
in order to ensure the house is ventilated and dried out as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, any electrical equipment should be unplugged,
furniture and sentimental belongings should be moved upstairs and where possible sandbags should be placed outside of the property.

insured against the elements. However, comprehensive cover should be in place all year round as the weather in this country is
unpredictable."
Double glazing and composite doors could be a useful
purchase, as the windows can help to reduce condensation, while composite doors may be less likely to rot when they have been soaked, than timber front doors.
