The era of cheap energy is over, one newspaper has asserted, meaning that it has never been more important to ensure that insulation is topped up -
which could mean installing double glazing and composite doors.
According to
the Independent, Britons who may have previously turned their noses up at changing their heating habits should think again.
"Heat
leaking out through the roofs, walls, windows, floors and doors or going unused in
unoccupied rooms may not break the bank now, but the quicker you get wise to heating your home efficiently, the more money you will save in the long
term," it claimed.
However, homeowners may find they can put a stop to this by installing double glazing and making sure they close their curtains at dusk.
A further step could be to install new composite doors in place of timber front
doors, as the latter is more likely to let out heat through gaps that form when the wood twists and warps in cold, damp weather.
