With the temperature rising everyday and summer on the way, next winter may be far from the thoughts of many Britons, but now could be the perfect
time to invest in composite doors and double glazing.
According to Steve Emsley, writing for the Chronicle Live, Britons should be considering ways of improving
their properties to ensure they stay warm this winter, without having to fork out for high energy bills as a result.
"After the coldest
winter for many years it has been hard to keep on reducing energy usage for the year in the way we have done for the last few years. The central
heating has been on more and it has had to work harder to keep us warm," he added.
Mr Emsley said that he is not in the business of
"freezing" but of finding ways to reduce power consumption.
While double
glazing can help to reduce heat loss, he added that teamed with underfloor insulation people could find themselves saving even more.
The
Energy Saving Trust claims that double glazing can reduce the amount of heat lost
through windows by 50 per cent.
Meanwhile, composite doors are less prone to cracking and warping than timber external doors, which could improve insulation further still.
