Due to its insulating qualities, double glazing can be seen as a green home
improvement.
Indeed, the Energy Saving Trust has pointed out that such fixtures can help to reduce heat lost through windows by as much as 50 per cent, meaning people do not have to be as reliant on their
central heating.
However, some Britons may have been put off by the costs they perceive could be involved, although double glazing may pay for itself through reduced energy bills.
But this could be
set to change as, should they prove successful at the next General Election, the Conservative Party has pledged to offer loans of up to £6,500
per household to fund home improvements which make the property more energy efficient.
It is hoped the scheme will help the UK to slash the
amount of carbon emissions its domestic housing stock produces each year.
Meanwhile, eligible homeowners would also be able to have a green
retrofit of their property to be paid for by a mainstream lender, it is reported, with the loan then being paid back over a 25-year
period.
Such news may inspire Britons that it is a good time to be investing in double glazing.
