The installation of double glazing helped to complete the renovation of a village hall,
allowing the amenity to be used once more.
Longriggend village hall was totally transformed after its £38,000 makeover, local paper the
Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser said.
As well as having new double glazing
installed, the village hall was also made fully wind and water tight, had new central heating and a new kitchen put in, and had improved disabled
access.
"The hall was in such a state that we had to cancel activities like the youth club, but now we're hoping to re-establish that
after the summer holidays," David Dempsey, chairman of the village association, told the paper.
He added that the renovation was very
thorough, with the whole building being totally refurbished.
Other projects designed to help improve the energy efficiency of homes in
Scotland have been announced by the Scottish government today. Up to 96,000 homes could benefit from funding totalling £15 million to help
improve homes in the country.
