Energy efficiency is becoming a particularly pressing issue, meaning it is worth investing in green fixtures such as double glazing if people wish to sell their home, it has been said.
According to
Obligo.co.uk, in the future it is likely that properties which are demonstrably less energy efficient will be difficult to sell and could even be
landed with higher taxation or increased difficulty in securing mortgage finance.
As a result, the site claims Britons should consider going
green in order to both attract buyers and enjoy a greener home with lower utility bills.
It explains that drawing the curtains can be one
quick and easy way of lowering the amount of heat lost through windows, particularly if
there is no double glazing.
However, it adds: "There is no doubt that
everybody understands the practical effects of double glazing. It keeps you warmer and
requires you to consume less energy."
In addition to double glazing, composite doors could also be worth consideration as, unlike timber external doors, they are less likely top crack or warp, allowing cold draughts to
get in.
