Scottish families 'receive double glazing boost'

Hundreds of households in Springburn, Scotland, have recently benefited from newly installed double glazing, thanks to a £1.5 million project.

The Evening Times reports that more than 400 North Glasgow Housing Association tenants have had new double glazing installed - which could allow them to save money on their energy bills come winter thanks to the improved insulation the product provides.

Chief executive of North Glasgow Housing Association Robert Tamburrini said: "Completion of the works will make a very real difference to tenants by ensuring they have warm, dry and safe homes."

He added that by making the homes more energy efficient they would be more cost effective to heat.

This may be particularly useful after a study by Consumer Focus revealed that four in ten people have been forced to cut back on their basic outgoings in order to pay for increased utility bills, while 65 per cent of people admitted the bills were larger than they had been expecting.
